Sep. 18th, 2018 09:59 pmOnce upon a time (how long ago, you ask? It could have been centuries or it could have been not so long at all) Marya was just a girl. A nice girl, a quiet girl, a soft girl. A girl who loved other girls. Only the girls she loved didn't love her back. The man that wanted her for himself grew angry at her rejection. The family that raised her wept for her soul. The village she'd always known was ashamed of her.
At the man's bitter suggestion, they thought that they could purify her in the water.
Marya was drowned, at the hands of those closest to her, and like so many drowned girls was brought back a rusalka. A spirit, not unlike a siren, (mostly) bound to the river she died in and driven to lure men with her song. Some of the others, her sisters in spirit, seduce the men they entangle, wrapping them in a lover's embrace as they drag them to their deaths. She, however, has grown vicious toward all men since so many of them were responsible for her end, and she kills them slowly.
She calls herself Marzanna now, even if she still thinks of herself as Marya. It seems appropriate.
She'll be this until her time on Earth ends.
Perhaps, though, another girl's love could save, if not her life, then her soul. Perhaps, perhaps.
CR-friendly mode: basically the same, but she can and does travel to any water-based location on whims.
